Course Overview
The first course at Dismal River is a Jack Nicklaus Signature Design. The highest level of design services from the Nicklaus group, the Signature Design ensures consistent on-site participation by the legend himself. The Golden Bear has given carte blanche to find the finest 18 holes anywhere within the 2,000-acre parcel, and the golf promises to be superb. It will be the links golf at its purest ~ rugged, windblown, hard, fast, and unpredictable. Creativity will be rewarded and strategy will be paramount. The ever-changing wind will blow from every direction, shaping the contours of the bunkers and the shots of the golfers. Your morning 9-iron may be an afternoon 3-iron. The holes will not play the same way twice. Players will be secluded from all vertical structures including the clubhouse, pro shop, and cabins. No roads will approach the course. Traffic is a foreign concept. There will be no asphalt, no beverage carts, no cell phones, and no six-hour rounds. Interruptions will arrive only by way of pheasants, quail and deer roaming the property. Walking will be encouraged and caddies will be available.
