Pacific Links International has pledged to invest $6.2 million in the next five years toward improving Dove Canyon Country Club, which it recently acquired.

"We are trying to bring back Dove Canyon to its original splendor," said Harry Turner, regional vice president of Pacific Links, during a meeting for Dove Canyon members.

Turner said Pacific Links will spend nearly $4.6 million on renovating the par-71, 6,902-yard golf course, which opened in 1990. It's the only Jack Nicklaus Signature Course in Orange County. Improvements will include fairway bunker repairs, driving range expansion and slopes landscaping.

The new owner also plans to change the name from Dove Canyon Country Club to Dove Canyon Golf Club to focus on its core service. The company will spend the rest of the money on equipment and the clubhouse.

Pacific Links, based in Toronto, was founded in 2009. It operates nine golf courses in Hawaii, Las Vegas and West Virginia, and one in China. Dove Canyon Country Club became the company's first location in California. Pacific Links bought the private club from Sanyo Foods Co., a Tokyo-based manufacturer of instant noodles, which had owned the course since 1992.

Pacific Links members can play at any of the company's clubs and affiliate courses around the world, Chief Operating Officer Charles Lorimer said.
