Latest Golfweek rankings pay tribute to Nicklaus Design

Of the 36 recognized, 10 were named to the Best Caribbean & Mexico Courses, including No. 1 Punta Espada at Cap Cana

In Golfweek’s 2014 ranking of the best Residential, Resort, and top courses in the Caribbean and Mexico, Nicklaus Design had a remarkable 36 courses recognized among the three surveys. This included 10 Nicklaus Design courses—or 20 percent—among the list of the Best Caribbean & Mexico Courses, led by Punta Espada course at Cap Cana, on the list for five straight years.

There were 16 Nicklaus Design courses to make the list of the 100 Best Residential Courses; and 10 courses to make its 100 Best Resort Courses.

All 10 courses to be ranked in Golfweek’s 2014 list of the Best Caribbean & Mexico Courses have been previously ranked on the list. Overall, Nicklaus Design has 26 courses located in the Caribbean and Mexico markets—with two courses open for play in the Dominican Republic and 24 courses located in Mexico. Those making the Golfweek list are:

Golfweek’s 2014 list of the 100 Best Residential Courses includes 16 Nicklaus Design layouts. Nicklaus Design has 210 courses located in the U.S., spread across 39 states. Not every course has a residential component, although homes in Nicklaus developments achieve both a 32% price premium and 15% faster sales velocity than the averages achieved by the other top golf course architects in the world.

A roll call of 10 Nicklaus Design courses was named to Golfweek’s 2014 list of the Best Resort Courses. Leading the pack at No. 13 is Jack Nicklaus’ first-ever design collaboration, Harbour Town Golf Links. Meanwhile, the 100th course on the list, Grand Cypress, made its entry onto the list for the first time, after recently undergoing a $14 million renovation of its villas.
