Monte Rei Golf & Country Club, in the unspoiled Eastern Algarve region of Portugal and widely tipped in the media to become one of the world's top leading golf destinations, has been named Troon Golf's first Privé Private Club of Distinction in Europe.

With seasoned staff already in place, including general manager Thomas Rubi, who has nearly 20 years experience in the luxury hospitality industry, and director of golf Wayne Johnson, who spent four years as director of golf at The Montgomerie Dubai, Monte Rei is perfectly positioned to offer the ultimate in private golf club experiences.

The golf course is surrounded by over 400 hectares of beautiful Algarve countryside, with wonderful views of the Atlantic Ocean and a back drop of the dramatic Serra do Caldeirao Mountains. The Monte Rei experience captivates the natural charm of the picturesque East Algarve region and combines it with unrivalled quality both on and off the golf course - all this just 30 minutes east of Faro near the ancient fishing town of Tavira.

The first of two championship golf courses is a Jack Nicklaus Signature design meandering over 70 hectares of gently rolling hills and valleys. The fairways and greens are boarded by several lakes, indigenous plants, native grasses and trees adding drama to the landscape.
