Course Overview
Jack Nicklaus does it again. Set against a stunning mountain backdrop in Promontory's scenic Painted Valley, the course will delight the senses and reward players of all abilities. The Painted Valley Golf Course is rated the toughest course in Utah and in 2008, was rated the 3rd Best New Private Course in the country by Golf Digest Magazine.
Hailed for decades as a premier skiing destination, Park City, Utah is quickly becoming renowned for golf as well, thanks to Jack Nicklaus' signature golf course. Fortunately for Promontory members, the Golden Bear is making his case in our golf community. We're breaking ground on a new clubhouse in 2010, and expect to have it completed by 2012.
The front nine plays down and then back up through a deep valley, with natural walls framing both sides of the playing corridors. The back nine is a high meadow on flatter terrain with longer views. The five finishing holes challenge you with a series of water features. Holes six through 13 provide panoramic views of Park City's three world-class ski mountains. The tee-to-green game is an adventure and the bent-grass greens are rife with swales, hollows, rolls, mounds, and runoffs.
Bear Facts
" The course is nearly 8,000 yards long. It sounds gargantuan, but assuming a 12% increase in ball flight because of the elevation, the sea-level distance equivalent will be about 7,300 yards. That’s not overwhelmingly long for a strong golfer using today's high-tech equipment." ~Jack Nicklaus
