Texas A&M Hosts 2011 NCAA Women¹s Golf Championships

COLLEGE STATION -- Come see golf’s stars of the future today when Texas A&M University serves as host of the 2011 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships May 18-21 at the Traditions Golf Golf in Bryan, Texas.

Over 120 individuals and 24 teams from around the country will converge on College Station for the ultimate college golf competition. The defending Big 12 Champion Aggies will be seeking a return trip to the NCAA Championships on their home course after finishing in 11th place at last year’s tournament at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C. The Aggies will open the spring portion of their season at the Central District Invitational at the River Wilderness Country Club in Parrish, Fla., Feb. 21-22.

The Traditions Golf Course was a co-design by Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II that was completed in 2004. Since its debut, Traditions has hosted a variety of elite tournaments including last year’s NCAA Men’s West Regional Championships.

Some of the nation’s top golf programs got a sneak peek at the 2011 host course when Texas A&M hosted the NCAA Fall Preview at Traditions Club last September. Alabama took the victory but it took a course record 15-under par effort to hold off LSU by a single stroke. New course records were established for individual and team score for 18, 36 and 54 holes. Fifteen of the 24 teams from the 2010 NCAA Championships teed it up at Texas A&M’s Fall Preview.
