Verandah voted best golf course in Gulfshore Life’s ‘2012 Best of the Gulfshore’

The May issue of Gulfshore Life names winners in numerous categories based on votes cast by the magazine’s readers.

Verandah, located in Ft. Myers, Fla., was voted “Best Golf Course” based on the community’s two championship golf courses – Old Orange, created by golf course architect Bob Cupp, and Whispering Oak, designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus and his son, Jack Nicklaus II.

Verandah's Whispering Oak Course opened for play in 2007. This breathtaking new challenge features compact greens that inspire every golfer to play like a champion.

"A golf course without interesting greens is almost defenseless because of today's technology," said Nicklaus II. "The subtle changes in green elevations and creating small pin placements within the green allow us to put some teeth back in the golf course. The course also has a lot of natural elements. There were a number of pockets of large oak trees we were able to use in the look and strategy."

The Whispering Oak course, alive with native oaks draped with Spanish moss, is a handsome companion to Verandah's Old Orange championship golf course, incorporating many beautiful and natural elements in the flow of the course. It will be a golf experience you'll never grow tired of. For more information, visit www.verandah.com.
