Second annual Uniting Nations Cup golf tournament set for Nicklaus course in Mexico

The second-annual Uniting Nations Cup golf tournament will be held on May 17-20 on the Peninsula de Cortez golf course, a Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II co-design at the Mayan Palace resort in Puerto Penasco.

The Uniting Nations Cup will consist of amateur teams competing from Mexico and the Southwest United States with participation from approximately 48 golfers from each country, ensuring competitive yet exciting playoffs. There are approximately only 15 events of this type currently in Mexico.

The concept of the Uniting Nations Cup is to highlight the alliance between the United States and Mexico beyond their commercial and cultural ties, while attempting to one day achieve the international reputation of a tournament similar to the legendary Ryder Cup.

According to Andrew Gilchrist, Director of Golf at the Peninsula De Cortes, and Tournament Director Vita Berlingeri, the world-class Nicklaus golf course at Mayan Palace Puerto Penasco, "is indisputably among the best golf courses in Mexico, done by the grand designer of golf courses himself, Jack Nicklaus, and his son. The course encompasses his trademark style of enhancing the natural environment that is both challenging and enjoyable."
