JNGC Korea
The PGA Tour officially arrives in Asia on Friday when the Posco E&C Songdo Championship presented by Gale International tees off at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in the burgeoning South Korea city of Songdo. The inaugural Champions Tour event is the first full-field PGA Tour event to be played in Asia.

The Songdo International Business District, located 40 miles west of Seoul in the country's largest current economic development project, is being developed by Gale International. The Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea is the centerpiece and for this week, the home to some of golf's most decorated and popular champions. The 60-man field includes such marquee names as Tom Watson, Mark Calcavecchia, Jay Haas, Mark O'Meara, Champions Tour money leader Bernhard Langer, and Jeff Sluman, the former PGA Championship winner and Jack's assistant captain on the US Presidents Cup.

TV"This is a significant step for the Champions Tour to expand the reach of our brand globally with some of the most recognizable and accomplished players in the game," said PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem. "The Korean market is an important one to the PGA TOUR and we welcome this addition to the Champions Tour schedule and the opportunity to further elevate golf in South Korea with an event of this magnitude."

"We have many players from this part of the world that are actually starting to play very, very well on the world circuit," Nicklaus said. "Were going to see the growth of the game and I think the Olympics have a lot to do with that. We'll have a tremendous growth of the game (throughout Asia)."
The 54-hole stroke-play tournament also includes the largest purse ever on the Champions Tour, with $450,000 of the $3 million purse going to the winner.

"I'm looking forward to it," O'Meara said. "I've spent a lot of time in the Far East, in Japan, but never in Korea so it's a new experience for me. I've heard some wonderful things about the course and about the resort.

Jack and Barbara Nicklaus
preview first apparel line
designed by partner David Chu
Worldwide licensees of the Jack Nicklaus brand gathered with Jack recently in New York to view the Spring 2011 men's and women's collection--the first in the joint-venture partnership with famed designer David Chu. Included in the unveiling is the first-ever, stand-alone women's collection by Chu, the founder of Nautica. The presentation was staged in New York at the offices and showroom of David Chu Design. The meeting, hosted by Nicklaus International Brand Management (NIBM), focused on Chu's exciting new apparel line, as well as on global branding, marketing, advertising, merchandising and the overall business strategy of offering a consistency of product across world territories.

The women's collection offers an extensive array of looks that marry style and performance with a sophisticated and chic sensibility. While the collection mirrors that of the men's spring line, it has a distinct point of view with bold prints and colors in separates that complement each other. The comprehensive collection includes a full range of long shorts, pants, and skorts, to sleeveless tops, cap-sleeve polos, vests and cardigans. All come with interesting flourishes and design details and silhouettes are slim and trim--reflecting the more youthful attitude of the new collection.

Nationwide Insurance introduced
as presenting sponsor of
the Memorial Tournament
The Memorial Tournament, Nationwide Insurance and the PGA TOUR announced today that Nationwide will become the presenting sponsor of the Memorial Tournament, beginning with the 2011 event. Nationwide and the Memorial have mutually committed to a six-year initial relationship through 2016.

the Memorial TournamentThe Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance will enter its 36th year of competition in 2011 as one of the elite events in professional golf. Founded and hosted annually by Columbus native Jack Nicklaus and the Nicklaus family and played at storied Muirfield Village Golf Club, the Memorial Tournament regularly attracts an outstanding international field, recognizes those who have distinguished themselves and contributed significantly to the sport, and at the same time ensures that many deserving charities are recognized and supported to help those in need.

"I am delighted and proud that Nationwide Insurance has joined the Memorial Tournament as presenting sponsor," Tournament Founder Jack Nicklaus said. "When we created the Memorial Tournament 35 years ago, we did so with Central Ohio in mind. It was our way of bringing world-class golf to our hometown and to the passionate fans of our state. I believe Nationwide Insurance furthers our national platform but at the same time brings us back to the genesis of the event, and that is to showcase golf to Central Ohio and at the same time showcase Dublin, Columbus and the surrounding area to the golf world. There is a commonality and a commitment to excellence between Nationwide Insurance and the Memorial Tournament."
