Highly Ranked Porto Cima Course Helps Children
in Inaugural 'Spotlight' Golf & Entertainment Event
Long-Term Relationship Established with MU Children's Hospital

LAKE OZARK, Mo. - After top-notch golf on a highly-ranked course, a powerful
music extravaganza, and plenty of friendship and fundraising on June 24-25,
a long-term, charitable relationship has developed among the University of
Missouri Children's Hospital, the Lodge of the Four Seasons, the Club at
Porto Cima, and numerous celebrities, as well as local residents and
business owners.
The inaugural Spotlight, which featured golf with professional athletes like
St. Louis Rams wide receiver Ricky Proehl and former MU and NBA guard Jon
Sundvold and music by stars like country music sensation Collin Raye,
successfully launched a long-term fundraiser which will produce benefits for
children today and in the future, hosts and participants said. The event
benefited MU's Children's Hospital, the largest and most comprehensive
pediatric health-care facility in mid-Missouri.
"What can be better than to play some golf, enjoy yourself, and help
children at the same time?" asked William Crist, M.D., the dean of the MU
School of Medicine.
The Lake of the Ozarks served as the backdrop for this event, and the
celebrity golfing event was played at the Club at Porto Cima, the only
18-hole Jack Nicklaus signature course in Missouri. Golf Digest recently
recognized Porto Cima as the fourth best new private course in the United
States. The concert was at the Lodge of Four Seasons, a nationally-known
vacation and meeting destination.
"This was my first trip to Porto Cima, and I thought it was one of the
most spectacular golf courses I've ever played," Proehl said. "I look
forward to being a regular. Next year I plan on bringing more of my
friends. I was glad and honored to be a part of the fundraiser for
Children's Hospital."
 | | Country music sensation Collin Raye. | Other helpful celebrities and athletes included Missouri native and
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member Steve Cropper, former California Angels
pitcher Scott Bailes, former St. Louis Cardinals players Dennis Higgins and
Tom Henke; Indy 500 champion and television analyst Tom Sneva; actors Ed
Marinaro, Emilio Rivera, Angel Cropper, Bobbie Eakes, Jose Solano;
"Survivor" stars Joel Klug and Gervase Peterson; music artists Chad Austin,
Shannon Brown, T. Graham Brown, Jeff Carson, Jim Collins, Bertie Higgins,
Gary U.S. Bonds, D. Vincent, Con Hunley, Larry Stewart, Trini Triggs, and
Ray Vega; and MU women's golf coach Stephanie Cooper.
"We at MU's Children's Hospital are simply thrilled by the success of
this inaugural event," director of external affairs Leigh Ann Hall said.
"We are delighted those participating had such a wonderful time and, most
importantly, that mid-Missouri kids will benefit from the generosity of the
event's sponsors and participants."
The Spotlight is produced by SCI Sports & Entertainment Marketing of
Nashville, Tenn., which has over 20 years of experience in marketing similar
events. Official partners included Anheuser Busch, Antigua, Four Seasons
Group, Four Seasons Homes Inc., Four Seasons Lakesites Inc., Lamar, Lodge of
Four Seasons, and Riley Chevrolet.
The Lodge of Four Seasons supports several charities each year through
event sponsorship and financial donation. The resort's largest charity event
is HK's Golf Tournament held annually each June for the past 24 years and
benefiting Lake Regional Hospital. Each year for the past three years, the
event has sold out and raised over $100,000. In addition to the golf
tournament, however, the Lodge's Cancer Gala is a much anticipated summer
charity event. While the first gala held in 1989 benefited Alzheimer's
research, the 2002 event will mark the Lodge's sixth year of raising funds
for the University of Missouri's Ellis Fischel Cancer Center in Columbia,
Mo.
