International Apparel Licensees Gather in Hawaii

The most widely attended Jack Nicklaus Brand Council meeting was recently staged in Kona, Hawaii, to shape the brand's business strategy for next year and beyond. Delegates from each Jack Nicklaus market, representing 15 countries, participated in the five-day conference staged by Nicklaus Companies and Hartmarx International. Each year, a licensee is awarded the Jack Nicklaus Award for Excellence for the prior year. The 2006 Award was presented to Rustan Marketing Corporation from the Philippines. The 2006 Jack Nicklaus Award for Excellence was presented to Rustan Marketing Corporation from the Philippines.

A global brand strategy was presented to include brand identity, marketing, advertising, and merchandising to assure consistency of presentation in world markets. In addition, each licensee described how they organize the Jack Nicklaus International Invitational qualifying tournaments in their country to best utilize the tournament as a marketing program to drive sales and build customer loyalty. Many different ideas were shared with the same result for each country - finding two of the best amateur golfers to represent their country at the international final Tournament of Champions. The international final is a two-man scramble, 18-hole tournament on Jack Nicklaus' exclusive home course, The Bear's Club, in Jupiter, Florida.

There are 460 Nicklaus-branded marks registered in 52 countries. Nicklaus licensees have been successful in positioning the apparel line to represent the highest of standards. Nicklaus-branded products generate over $250 million in retail sales annually.
