Korean Memorial Tournament: The Gold Field Fund Charity Golf Tournament
 | | The Gold Field Fund completed the first wave of support successfully. The fun contributed $10,000(US) to the cost of surgery and other treatments for an 8-year-old girl, who has suffered from a kidney disease. The child underwent a successful kidney transplant on September 15, and her recovery has been good and speedy. |
FnC KOLON, the licensee for Jack Nicklaus Apparel in Korea, has launched the "Gold Field Fund," which was created in cooperation with the Open Doctors Association to help children suffering from hard-to-cure diseases.
Every month, FnC KOLON receives a child who is being treated by the Open Doctors Association and, through the Gold Field Fund, supports the cost of the child's needed surgery and other treatments. To raise much-needed funds for this project, FnC KOLON has hosted the "Gold Field Fund (GFF) Charity Golf Tournament" since June of this year. Following Jack Nicklaus' example of true sportsmanship and his founding of the Memorial Tournament, which not only showcases the best golf talent in the world but supports the Columbus Children's Hospital through tournament proceeds, the Gold Field Fund raises funds for these children in need. The Fund does this through three methods:
- First, funds will be raised from monthly payments by employees who participate in the "Drive for One Bank Account per Employee" project initiated by FnC KOLON's Jack Nicklaus Team.
- Second, FnC KOLON hosts the G.F.F. (Gold Field Fund) Charity Golf Tournament, three times this year. The first tournament was held on June 28, and attended by representatives of the agents of the Jack Nicklaus brand and other collaborating companies. The activities of the fund members are officially announced during the tournament with the "G.F.F. Messengers of Love" ceremony. The next tournament was held July 13 in Jeju Island, Korea. FnC KOLON hosted the JNBC Golf Tournament as a part of the G.F.F. Charity Golf Tournament, with members of Jack Nicklaus Brand Council 2004. Numerous representatives from various countries participated in the fund-raising activities. The third tournament was scheduled for October 18.
- Third, FnC KOLON uses 1 percent of the total sales of The Jack Collection, its recently launched flagship product line, to raise funds for its project. With The Jack Collection, golfers and consumers are able to purchase clothing virtually identical to the apparel Jack Nicklaus wore at different times throughout his history-making career. The clothing does feature trendier and more fashionable details.
In the future, G.F.F. plans to organize a Gold Field Fund community through the Jack Nicklaus web site in Korea to promote wider participation in its fund-raising activities and to cultivate the members' common interests. With this community, G.F.F. hopes to establish a vehicle for the members' voluntary participation in the management of the fund.
