Nicklaus Design places five courses in
Golf Digest's Best New Courses 2005

NORTH PALM BEACH, FL. - Proving once again Nicklaus Design's diversity, and its proficiency to make a good thing even better, five Nicklaus courses were named to Golf Digest's list of America's Best New Courses for 2005, including two in the "Upscale Public Course" category and three in the "Best New Remodel" category.

In the Best New Upscale Public category, Nicklaus Design scored on the West and East Coast with two Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses. Old Greenwood in Truckee, Calif., and May River Golf Club in Bluffton, S.C., took the Nos. 4 and 6 spots, respectively. Over the last two years, both courses have garnered honors in GOLF Magazine's Top 10 You Can Play 2004 and T&L Golf's 30 Best New Courses for 2004.

In a relatively new category for Golf Digest, the Best New Remodel, Colleton River, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course which first opened in 1992 and a former Top-100 mainstay, was redesigned and renovated last year and earned a No. 3 ranking. The Loxahatchee Club, which earned America's Best New Private Course when it opened in 1984, came in at No. 8. The Lakes Course at Bear Lakes Country Club, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course that has twice hosted the PGA Tour Qualifying School Finals and numerous U.S. Open qualifiers since opening in 1985, took the 10th spot with its renovation and redesign.

Nicklaus Design, recognized as the world leader in golf course design, has been involved with 293 courses open for play in 28 countries and 37 states. Of those, Jack Nicklaus has designed, co-designed or re-designed 242 courses around the globe, 45 of which have been ranked in various national or international Top-100 lists. Nicklaus Design currently has 58 courses under construction and a total of 79 courses under development in 30 different countries. Of those 79 courses under development, 50 are outside of the United States.
