South Africa claims Jack Nicklaus International Invitational title

The Eighth Jack Nicklaus International Invitational (“JNII”) concluded on May 29, 2014. The tournament’s ultimate event brings together the winners of each JNII national tournament held over the previous 12 months around the world. This year, teams from six countries advanced to play for their country in the 18-hole international final. The event was played at the Jack Nicklaus-designed New Albany Country Club outside of Columbus, Ohio, timed in conjunction with the nearby Memorial Tournament.

Jeanne Koegelenberg and Mark Roux of South Africa won the competition with a 6-under total of 66. It was the first championship for Team South Africa in six tries. The Philippines team of Abe Rosal and Yuri Allado battled with the South Africans to the end, trading birdies the final 3 holes to finish with a 4-under 68.

The JNII is a two-person team competition for recreational players of all skill levels who get to experience competitive golf in a relaxed, social atmosphere that promotes camaraderie and interest in the game. Players who enter national JNII tournaments get to play top courses in tournament-like conditions and a chance to win great prizes, including an expense-paid VIP trip to play for their country in the Tournament of Champions.
