A total of 88 Nicklaus Design golf courses or their respective hotels are up for 2016 World Golf Awards in the third annual competition to be voted on by the general public now through October 16. Jack Nicklaus is a nominee for Golf Course Designer of the Year. As founder of Nicklaus Design, the Golden Bear’s leadership has led the company to open 400 golf courses worldwide in 41 countries and 39 states.
Al Zorah Golf Club, Nicklaus Design’s first golf course in the United Arab Emirates and the first-ever golf course to be built in the emirate of Ajman, is up for World’s Best New Golf Course. Al Zorah opened on December 9, 2015. As a newcomer to Golf Digest Middle East’s top-10 list, Al Zorah is already proving its loftiness. It is a nominee of Golf Inc.’s Development of the Year contest; and ranked No. 10, it is one of the biggest stories in Golf Digest Middle East’s fourth biennial ranking of the best courses in the Middle East.
There are three additional golf courses nominated for “worldwide” awards, including Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea and The Club at Steyn City Golf Course, both nominated for World’s Best Clubhouse, and The Gleneagles Hotel, nominated for the World’s Best Eco-friendly golf facility.
