Columbus, Ohio USA, May 31, 2018 – The 12th Jack Nicklaus International Invitational (JNII) concluded with its international final on May 31, 2018. The tournament’s ultimate event was played at New Albany Country Club outside of Columbus, Ohio on the Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course.
Known as the Tournament of Champions, the international finals of the JNII brings together the winners of national events held over the past 12 months in select countries. This year, teams from five countries advanced to play for their country in the 36-hole international final sponsored by the Nicklaus Companies.
The Philippines duo of Hubert Lim and Tootsie de Jesus defended the country’s 2017 championship with a net 6-under score. They held off a valiant effort by the all-female Korean team of Jeung Sik Kim and Jin Hee Park, who played the second day at 5-under. The Korean’s were hoping to be the first female team to win the Tournament of Champions. The Filipino win makes it four wins for the country.
“I’m mentally drained,” de Jesus remarked after the win. His partner Hubert Lim mentioned “the Koreans were like a machine, and we couldn’t put them away. The emotions that you feel at this event, and the friendships you make around the work makes this an awesome experience. And the Jack Nicklaus clothes are great! Thank you Rustan’s for making this happen.”
The JNII is a two-person team competition for recreational players of all skill levels who get to experience competitive golf in a relaxed, social atmosphere that promotes camaraderie and interest in the game. Players who enter national JNII events get to play top courses in tournament-like conditions and a chance to win great prizes, including an expense-paid VIP trip to play for their country in the Tournament of Champions and watch the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide, an event played at nearby Muirfield Village Golf Club on the PGA TOUR.
National events for the 13th Jack Nicklaus International Invitational have begun. The international final Tournament of Champions is scheduled for late May 2019.
