Breaking News: Nicklaus Design announces new golf course in Vietnam.

Hue City, Vietnam – As a part of the Nicklaus Companies’ role in Vietnam to help develop the game of golf and design courses across the country, the BRG Group has announced plans to begin work on its seventh Nicklaus Design golf course.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with our partners and friends at the BRG Group to design the next Nicklaus golf course,” said Paul Stringer, Nicklaus Companies President, Asia Pacific. “Madame Nga has a vision to develop a golf culture, resorts, and various residential developments for the people of Vietnam and to help drive golf tourism for the country’s economy. The bar is definitely being set for the golf standard in Vietnam.”
Nicklaus Design Associate, Sean Quinn, has begun drafting routing plans and strategy for the latest course.  “There is nothing greater than getting a blank canvas and being able to take a client’s dream and make it a reality,” said Quinn. “The property is stunning and the natural topography of the existing land is something we look forward to highlighting in the design. We currently have six Nicklaus courses completed in the country– the future is very bright for golf in Vietnam. Speaking on behalf of the Nicklaus Design family, we are beyond excited to start this new project which will feature several holes alongside the beautiful beaches.”
Pattaya, Thailand – First opened in 1993, Laem Chabang features a 27-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Design, and now Nicklaus Design is returning to Thailand for the first time to update and renovate the course.  Work on the first nine holes of the Mountain Course is nearing completion and is on schedule to open for play in November at what is recognized as one of the top clubs in the country. Nicklaus Design Associate, Sean Quinn, worked in concert with Flagstick Construction Management and Hamish McKendrick from Laem Chabang throughout the renovation process. The greens and tees have been remodeled, the irrigation system has been upgraded substantially and a new chipping and putting green enhanced practice area have been installed. The other two nines are expected to be completed in 2019 and 2020, respectively, while the club continues to be open for play throughout construction.
Eatonton, Georgia – The Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at Great Waters has become known worldwide as one of the best courses in the United States and the jewel in the renowned portfolio of courses at Reynolds Lake Oconee.  Jack’s design features a remarkable nine holes on the picturesque shores of Lake Oconee.
“As Jack said, the bones of the golf course remain very strong, and it does not need to be redesigned; it’s an incredible golf course,” said Nicklaus Design Associate Chad Goetz, “we are updating and refreshing the course including new tees.”
“Nicklaus Design is fortunate to be on site with some of the best staff in the business,” explained Goetz. “The entire Reynolds Lake Oconee team is exceptional, but to name a few that will help take this vision became reality are: Reynolds Lake Oconee Director of Agronomy, Lane Singleton, Great Waters Course Superintendent, Brandon Hayes, and his staff also play a major role in the project.  Additionally, we received incredible help and support from Heritage Links and shaper Cliff Hamilton, Irrigation designer Tony Altum and local engineer Rick McCallister.”
Construction began in July of 2018 and the course is on schedule to re-open in October of 2019.

Attention all Nicklaus Courses – You’re Invited to the 35th playing of the Jack Nicklaus Cup Matches!

Nicklaus courses from around the world gather each year to share in camaraderie and to compete for bragging rights in winning the Jack Nicklaus Cup Matches!
In 1983, golf professionals from four Nicklaus Designed courses conceived the idea of an annual competition among the members of their clubs. The concept gave rise to the first Jack Nicklaus Cup Matches that took place in the spring of 1984. Now, as Nicklaus Design continues to grow its footprint of over 415 golf courses in 45 countries, the Cup Matches attract teams from around the world. Since its inception, the matches have been held for the fun of the game and for the challenge of competing among the Nicklaus family of courses. It is a 54-hole competition, and each team consists of 3 amateurs with the golf professional as the playing team captain.
This year’s event is hosted at Reflection Bay Golf Club in Lake Las Vegas, from September 30–October 3, 2018. Reflection Bay is a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course that opened in 1998. Should you have any questions, please contact Pat Ross or Teddy Hines via email or the phone numbers below.
